This policy covers the Lightly photo editor and lightly.pro. Privacy enquiries can be sent to hello@lightly.pro.
Editing on your device
Lightly processes the photographs you choose on your device. The app does not upload them to Lightly, require a Lightly account, or include advertising or analytics. Save copy creates a new image; Share opens the system share sheet so you choose the destination. The receiving app has its own privacy practices.
Photos and permissions
You choose photos through the system picker or use the camera. Lightly requests permissions needed for those actions and for saving. You can manage permissions in your device settings. On Android, access to a chosen photo may be retained to restore an editing session.
Faces, subjects and depth
Available Portrait and Background tools analyse faces, features, subject outlines and depth locally to apply edits. They do not identify who a person is. These results are not sent to us and may be retained locally with an unfinished edit so it can be restored.
Metadata and location
Keep photo metadata and Include location are separate controls. Camera and exposure details can be kept while location is excluded. Location is off by default and can only be included when available in the photo supplied by your device. These preferences apply to saved and shared copies.
Local storage
Preferences, favourite presets, signatures, logos and temporary editing data are stored on your device. Recovery data may include image data, edit history and computed masks or depth. Retention and backup behaviour depend on your device and platform. Removing the app does not remove exported photos or copies you shared elsewhere.
Visiting this website
This site uses Cloudflare for hosting and delivery. Requests necessarily expose technical information such as your IP address, requested URL and browser information to the hosting service. Cloudflare may process it for delivery, security and operations. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
We have not added advertising, analytics scripts, embedded third-party media or tracking cookies to this site. Fonts and images are hosted with the website. Hosting-level security features may have their own technical requirements.
Contacting us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you send, including attachments. We use this to respond and investigate your request. Do not send private photos unless necessary and agreed. The email provider also processes correspondence.
Your choices and changes
You can manage local app permissions and stored content through the app and device. For information about correspondence you have sent us, or to request its correction or deletion, email hello@lightly.pro. Applicable legal rights depend on your location. We will update this page when our practices change.
